Guest Post: Melly Mel Reviews Her Favorite BB Apps
We are going to start letting a few of our friends do some guest blogging on the site because we want to hear more from the people out there especially theme developers. So, I got Mel, aka @chynagyrl1980 on twitter and one of our fearless developers, to give me a guest post on her favorite BlackBerry Apps.
Mel:
My lock screen says it best, “My berry is my besty!” I got madd luv for my BB, to the point that my BF tries to beat it up when I’m not looking. So when I was asked to write a blog on a BB app or a theme, I was uber stoked and excited. Keyword: UBER. My fave app, if I had to choose one, is Ubertwitter. My ubertwitter has become my most used and abused app. I design themes around my ubertwitter, to ensure that the formatting wont interfere with my @ replies. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s definitely time to get in touch with the twitter world. (don’t forget to follow me @ChynaGyrL1980).
Ok so a quick run down of the reason why this is one of my fave apps. Ubertwitter is quick and easy to install. Their menu includes a Feedback option which will instantly send an email to @ubertwiter (yes, there’s a “t” deliberately missing in twitter, even though their site is ubertwitter.com, I don’t understand this at all..) and they actually do respond back, albeit not super quickly, at least they respond. Uber will allow you to control how often the updates are streamed, whether or not you want to include your location with every tweet, an easy way to follow or unfollow tweeps using the menu, and profile options you can set to a ringtone if someone sends you a reply. So enough already, here is the link to read up on the current revision. Worst comes to worst you can always delete it! http://www.ubertwitter.com/
I really have to give honorable mention to my second fave app, which is QSMS. I think its an awesome app because I am a huge texter (BF has an iPhone) so it makes up for the BB handicap of not having a quick key for composing a text message. What it does is assigns the letter “Q” as a compose text key. So when you want to compose a text, all you do it hit “Q” and it will automatically take you to your address book to select a person and then it will take you to the actual text of the message to start composing. Voila! OTA link for that is here. http://berrycoder.com/qsms.jad
And there you have it, those are my favorite apps that I feel need more recognition!
