How to Take Screenshots on Your BlackBerry
On occasion, you may want to take a screenshot of what’s displayed on your BlackBerry. There are free and paid ways of doing this. I’ll focus on the free ways to get screenshots in this article. I’ll cover two utilities: CaptureIt, and BBScreenShooter. You may want both and I’ll
explain why later.
CaptureIt is by far the most simple program to install and use. Once you install it, use your Menu button and click on CaptureIt. CaptureIt will grab a screenshot of the current screen and save it for you to your Pictures folder. It’s a very simple program and works great!

However, some programs won’t bring up the CaptureIt selection in their menu. To capture a screenshot in these cases , you’ll want to try BBSCreenShooter.
Here’s how BBScreenshooter works. You install the program to your computer and run it, connect your BlackBerry via USB to the computer, then use BBScreenshooter on your desktop to take images of what is displayed on the BlackBerry.

Note: You’ll need to go into the settings and make sure the screenshots are set to number incrementally, otherwise each screenshot will overwrite the previous.
The odd requirement is that you’ll need a Javaloader.exe file installed into the BBScreenshooter directory. The file is available from the RIM folks. I had troubles finding it on the RIM site; it appears it is part of the Developer’s package. It was too much trouble for me to download that and pick through it for one file. You can download a copy of Javaloader.exe here.
With both of these tools together, you’ll have no problem getting the screenshots you need off your BlackBerry!
