Devcon 2009: RIM To Launch BlackBerry Academic Program
Yes you heard it right. RIM just announced today they are going to start the BlackBerry Academic Program for some lucky colleges and universities. These classes will have 3 base courses you can take:
Mobile Application Development:
You can learn the in and outs for developing applications specifically for Blackberry! They will cover such subjects as features of the BlackBerry, user interface design, multimedia app and mobile web development.
Administration:
This will be a large roll in boosting the productivity of enterprise workforces. There are over 200,000 BES server installations out there.
Support:
These courses will be your IT section. You can be trained to work in call centers and/or IT support environments completely dedicated to BlackBerry Smart Phones. This course also prepares the student for the BlackBerry Certification exam.
All of these courses come with textbooks, lab manuals and so on. Over 500 students have already taken these courses as a part of a pilot.
Some US and Canadian universities are in the process of incorporating these wonderful classes into their course offerings.
