(me: rezn) [q] They say rappers are the hungriest prior to fame. So hence are the sickest when the pen first taps that paper. What was the first classic hip hop album in your heart?
(SwinDoe) [a] I think the first album or rapper that made me addicted is Nas "Illmatic". They way he combined words and images into a story blew my mind. He combined the streets with poetry…classic
(rezn) Agreed. NY State of mind. Right from the jump. That album was Fire.
(rezn) [q] What was the first hip hop album that had you either wanting to Dance or bust out your own freestyle?
(SwinDoe) [a] I wasn't much of a dancer, but I gotta take it to the west coast with Digital Underground and the "Humpy Dance" lol. That was fire!
(rezn) There you go. Back when Tupac was 2PAC chilling with a Z in his fro. He got his start back on their second album Same Song. And I just taught myself how to do the Humpty Dance. Speaking of..
(SwinDoe) Haha true. Tupac to me was the ultimate artist. The passion, when he delivered his lyrics ppl could feel it.
(rezn) Yeah he came up quick after Brenda's Got A Baby.
(SwinDoe) It wasn't just words they were emotions.
(rezn) [q] I dig the pencil in hand on the cover. Just reminds me of that Raw hunger. What's your favorite track on the album? Who would you like to work with production wise in your future?
(SwinDoe) [a] Oooh…that's a hard one because I give a piece of me in every song….but I really love Victim Of Desire & I Knew It. Most of the ppl I want to work with are dead unfortunately…Bob Marley, Tupac, Michael Jackson…but Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Timberland.
(rezn) [q] Do people tell you things seem perfect but your not satisfied until you really feel that feeling?
(SwinDoe) [a] That's it! This project I had that "feeling" with every verse, hook, song. I'm coming to the point that I know when its right, when even the engineer can't hear it, I go off of that emotion, the tingle that bumps up your skin.
(rezn) [q] Well said Swin. Ok you know I gotta do this. The BlkBerry song. Was that the first big explosion for you? If so where were you. How did it feel?
(SwinDoe) [a] That was probably the easiest song I made, didn't have to write it, its was almost a mockery of where hip hop has gone…to be truthful. I was in my brothers living room, where we do most of our recording, and was happy I got a BB and pretty much freestyled the original song. Its crazy, up to that point I've done probably 75 songs of better content and quality but this is the one that caught the most buzz.
(rezn) [q] Rad. Well here's a quest Do you iPhone it or Blackberry it now?
(SwinDoe) [a] Ima GO HARD BB guy now…but my Bro has a ihone lmao. " Now ya boy pushin' buttons, on dat 9700 Bold 2". lol
(rezn) [q] What would you like the SwinDoe fans to get from your album? Or do you think we'll get?
(SwinDoe) [a] I want them to be inspired! To reach for their dreams and I would like my music to be the soundtrack of there achievements.
(rezn) [q] Ah wow. Ok. That's cool. what if any genre or category would you give your music?
(SwinDoe) [a] Haha funny ya asked, the original name to the album was "Hop-turna-Tive" that's the genre I think it is. Making a new category.
(rezn) That's so cool. Took me a minute but I got it!! Well there it is guys. Brand new album from SwinDoe Out Now!! I got a chance to sample some of the tracks off the album. And I am quite impressed. A helluva lot of Raw Talent. Hard to believe this is his Freshman debut.
