Samsung SCH- LC11 LTE Mobile Hotspot Review

If you have a blackberry and want a good wi-fi connection read on.

So I gotta chance to play with the new Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot from Verizon for the past few days. I have hooked it up to a variety of electronics, but can this little puppy give me the speeds that I see on my Verizon HTC Thunderbolt Mobile Hotspot Feature? Let's see. As far as the design, most of these hotspots look the same. Nothing really sexy about them and there is no reason to be sexy. You want the juice inside. It's a very simple set up. You pretty much follow these instructions. Cut it on. Input your password. Add it to your networks on your PC or Mac and surf the web. That's what I love about these devices. The convenience and simplicity. Battery life was ok.  I kept it plugged up and it last 3 hours and 23 minutes with some pretty heavy use. That's ok but can get you thru some tough spots if necessary. But here is where you really wanna keep reading. Speed test. We all know the LTE speeds from Verizon are amazing. I mean disgustingly fast. So I expect the Samsung Hotspot to be comparable to my HTC Thunderbolt hotspot.Wrong. On my Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot I got speeds of 4.82 Mbps Download and 2.20 Mbps Uploads. Not horrible and better than my  home cable by far. The best I got on my Samsung was 6.34 and 3.21 respectively. Keep reading. HTC Thunderbolt Mobile Hotspot, I get speeds of 15.179 Mbps Download and 26.175 Mbps Uploads. Yeah, you read that right. That's insane! My iPad just flew on it and my Macbook Pro didn't know what to do with its new found speeds. Now, this is not to say I didn't like the Samsung or wouldn't recommend it. It's still awesome when compared to my home computer internet. Time Warner just could not hang. The one thing that annoyed me just a bit with the Samsung is that I kept losing my LTE signal. That was frustrating but overall I can say that you will love working with this device. If you are in an LTE area, and need that internet connection for your work or pleasure, I would recommend it. Unless you have an HTC Thunderbolt. Then you are better of using that Hotspot feature. image via thisismynext.com
