Hey everyone what's up.
Well Roger's has released the new BlackBerry Pearl 8110, built in Wifi, built in GPS with turn by turn navigation, text to speach, 2 mega pixel camera WITH VIDEO CAPTURE (finally!), dual external speakers and much more .
Here's the link,
Detect Flash support (http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition&Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition_actionOverride =%2Fportlets%2Fconsumer%2Fwireless%2FphoneBuyflow% 2FshowPage_ForPhone&Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_DefinitionproductId_Detai led=8110R)
Now I was just wondering if anyone had this yet and what your thoughts were. I will be picking up next week for only $225.00 brand new from Rogers even though I'm not due for a hardware upgrade yet, hahaha.
For those who do have it or who know in general I was wondering if RIM brought back the color LED behind the track ball? If so, would the color track ball download work on the new 8110? Lastly, would the theme's I have downloaded for the 8100 I have now work on the new 8110?
Once I do pick it up I'll post my take on it and how much it is an improvement over the ole tried & true 8100 :).
Cheers :hat:

Not really familar with rogers but I'm assuming for themes and the color track ball, it's all in what OS you have and since plazmic starts at 4.2.0 and higher and soon to be released with the latest versions that yes your themes etc... should work with the 8110
Hope this helps!

Yeah thanks man it was helpful. I can't say for certain but I'm guessing the OS for the 8110 has to be at least 4.3 if not higher so at least my themes will work. With regards to the color track ball, that is going to depend on if the color LED bulbs have been put in these units as I know the CDMA version only have a 1 color bulb. Again, guess I'll just have to find out when I get it.
Appreciate the reply back though.
Take care.

Well I stopped in to the corner T-Mobile store and holy cow I took one look at the new Pearl and damn its bad ars!!!!! I love my white pearl and couldnt imagine life with out it!!!! But this phone is so cool- its just a tad bigger than the old faithful, but the new features are worth cheating-the video is a huge thing for me..... It also holds up to an 8 gig memory and its on the side of the phone like the Dash so you dont have to take your battery out and then wait for it to power back up!!! It also has full keypad which was kinda strange but...... The GPS feature is great to because I often find myself lost and in a parking lot somewhere-oh texting or browsing!!!! To me its actually closer in size and feel to the curve than the Pearl!!!! Anyway it was fun to get to actually take a look at it!!I will be holding out and remaining faithful for now-they said the colors will be coming out before Christmas~I can wait to see what they offer..... Ok enough rambling, let us know what you think of it and how it actually compares to the "old faithful"

WELL I GOT IT!!! :becky::becky::becky:
So my order went through to the Rogers distribution warehouse on Tuesday around 5:21pm and I had the phone delivered on Wednesday by noon :becky:.
So here's my take on the 8110 vs 8100 from Rogers.
PRO's:
- much stiffer feel to the key pad
- built in GPS via Telenav with turn-by-turn navigation and FULL text to speech (only $10 p/mth for unlimited use, does NOT count as data)
- video capture (oh yeah baby, finally)
- 2 mega pixel camera
- large internal memory > 64mb
- external memory expandable to 4GB
- stand by bluetooth that is not on until you connect to a device
- smoother, faster OS > v4.3.0.93
- 2 external speakers
- better reception
- clearer sounding calls, increased noise reduction
- new color, dark blue
- unit feels more solid over all
CON's:
- doesn't appear it'll accept the Color Track Ball app :( (meh, oh well)
- vibrate doesn't seem to be as powerfull as the 8100 (still feel it though no prob)
- Sure Type now shows words up/down as opposed to side to side (not really a con but it took a bit of getting used to, lol)
- all the themes I've downloaded, including the custom theme created for me, don't work (not sure if it's because of the new, higher OS or because I still have the carrier tag )
So I really have to give this Pearl a 9.5 out of 10, would have been perfect if the color ball and themes would have worked, and overall I love it :RockOn Banana:
Well there ya go and if anyone has some questions, comments or what not I'd be happy to answer if I can.
Cheers.

I have had an 8110 with rogers for about a month.
Themes work great.
Games also work fine.
Just do lots of google-ing for themes and games.
I use google maps for the mobile. It gets your position from cell towers and works pretty slick.
I also use a gmail account mostly and also use the calendar withing google, then I sync it to my BB with Google Sync.
Suretype is awesome, 2 letters for one key, I type just as fast as on the full keyboards, if not faster.
Love it.:hail:

Quick question, did you have any trouble installing Desktop Manager 4.3? Mainly did media manager not work because it said the certificate was not valid or corrupted? I kept getting that message, had to go back to using 4.2 but now I can't seem to upload/download themes.

No problem with 4.3 at all...
