I've pasted an image onto a transparent background and saved it as a GIF before, but now I can't seem to get it to work. I'm creating an icon for a theme and have pasted the image onto a 48x36 transparent background. In the "layers" palette (I'm using Paint Shop Pro), I've locked the transparency of this raster layer. When I go to save the icon as a GIF, I get a message saying "Because of the limitations of the specified file format, the saved file will be limited to a single layer and a maximum of 256 colors. Would you like to continue?" If I click yes and the icon saves, when I preview it or open it in PSP, it now has a white background behind it. What am I doing wrong?
