My work upgraded my ancient berry for an 8800 last month and I loved it, except about a week after I got it the charging port started going out. Well eventually it broke all together and went dead. I went to the ATT store and they offered to replace it but said I would lose all my data not on memory card unless I had backed up my system. Well my backup was old so I was forced to copy info with pen and pad after the store let me borrow a charged battery. They gave me a brand new 8800 and I am using that today. This was about 2 weeks ago.
My new 8800 already has a loose charging port, it works fine but I'm scared to touch it while it is plugged in. (this is hard as I have trouble putting it down at all). The guy at the ATT store said, "Yeah, that is a known problem with that model."
My warranty is only 30 days and I know I'm gonna have to replace this port eventually as this phone should last me 2 years. (according to my boss)
