Maybe with the new software upgrade 4.5 themes and apps can be saved on the mc. The upgrade is gonna have a lot of cool features. We'll just have to wait and see!

The themes will download to device memory but I think as long as you change the directory when it gives you a choice the device will remember it. Whenever I sownload images or ringers it automatically stores to memory card. Hope this helps

Apps will probably NEVER go to external memory, simply for the reason that when your device needs something from external memory (like pics on your memory card) it has to initialize that memory, access the file, etc. and all that takes time. The bb should have ample memory for whatever you're doing, given you manage your resources correctly.

You would think that since blackberry is primarily used for business, it would be able to hold more applications or hold applications at all. I switched from the dash with windows mobile and boy was that a mistake. Three apps and the bb is done, worthless unless you want to listen to music. I ran more apps then I needed on the Dash and never had a problem. I hope the OS has alot to offer or I just threw money down the drain. Thanks for all the help.

I really don't know why you would think that. I have at least 10 aftermarket apps on my bb and don't experience any trouble at all. If you'd be more specific about the trouble you're having, I'm sure we could find a solution for you. :4:

you can't store apps into the memory card like Palm OS and Windows... not sure why but the new 4.5 OS will support that feature

I haven't loaded more than three apps in fear that it will slow down, according to other post that I have read. How much memory can you use before you start noticing a difference ? I have now 14763344 bytes, how much can I use and still have enough for the device to operate smoothly ?

there is no magic number, as each theme is unique in size. Don't worry about bogging down your BB, if you get to that point you can always clean house and get rid of some old email, messages, or themes you don't use anymore. don't stress about memory, it's not an issue that requires a complicated fix.
