Can someone please help me with image editing software? I currently have Gimp 2.4 and feel like a deer in haedlights! I have no idea how to use it. I downloaded the help file but it seems to be for a different version. Can someone help me with this version, tell me which version I should use, or let me know where I can get a different free program that does the same things as Gimp (only easier) to make wallpapers. Thanks in advance!!!

GIMP is a bit intimidating. I think it took me two months to figure out how to add a transparency layer.

Have a look at paint.net. I haven't tried it but I heard it is worth a look.

Thank you, I will check it out. I played around with Gimp some more and figured out some basics finally!!

I have since installed Paint.net. I think it is a bit easier to use than GIMP.

Did you look at the "Theme Goodie University" thread under help and how-to's>themes>theme goodie university. I've written 2 very basic tutorials there, and started a tips and tricks thread for everyone to share their knowlege. Also, googling "gimp tutorial" will net you some great resources. There are a few members here that use gimp, and premium members can join the Gimp Themers user group. Worth a shot! If you don't find what you're looking for, send me a PM and I'll get you where you need to be. I like gimp because its free, and just-as if not MORE capable than some of the big expensive programs out there. It takes some getting used to, but what doesn't? Don't give up on gimp, its a great little tool. (Matter of fact, the world famous Alexisrae, of themes4bb.com, uses gimp exclusively for all her name logo wallpapers!)

I, personally, never cared for Gimp i use photoshop cs3 and have played around with paint.net. Paint.net did seem better than gimp to me.
