Issues with image on BB

I created an image for my 8310. Its 320x240, 300dpi. It looks great in GIMP and on my computer, but when I upload to my BB, it losses a lot of quality. There are a lot of artifacts floating around the image. Its not a complicated image (company logo, 2 colors). Any advice?

Try to use the highest quality image you can and reduce it down the the correct size (320x240) save the image in .jpg or .png. See if that helps.

The image is already 320x240. I saved it as a jpg with 85%. I will try png. I tried using it as my wallpaper, it only uses 2/3s of the screen (basically, behind the icons) and not the very top of the very bottom.
