becareful only pull the trackball out as a very very last measure, because it never fits real snug again, did it several times with 5 different phones, the trackballs never fit snug again, why do you think that the phone people do not send you a trakball and ring out too fix it,because they know it gets really loose, what is cheaper PHONE REPLACEMENT or TRACKBALL REPLACEMENT,if the could send just a trackball out too fix the problem they would,BECAREFUL.

I've had my 8830 with Sprint since the day it launched. I've had my trackball out probably 7 or 8 times.

If you want a different color to illuminate your trackball you can color the LED under the trackball with a dry erase marker. Make sure you use a fine tipped marker so you don't get anything but the LED colored. Also if you want to remove the color from LED, you can use a toothbrush with denatured alcohol to scrub it off. Just make sure you have the battery out of phone. And don't over do the alcohol when cleaning it, the brush just barely needs to be damp.

To pull the trackball out, take a small flat object like a small flathead screwdriver and place it between the "t" and the "y" and you can pop the silver ring out then the trackball will slide right out.

I clean my trackball regularly with bleach as I like it to be shiny white so the color shines through.

As far as I know you can't change the color of the trackball on the 8800 series phones. Someone correct me if I am wrong though.
