Help!! Problem downloading themes

I just got a Blackberry Pearl a couple of weeks ago, I have tried several times trying to get a theme downloaded to my phone. I connect my phone to my computer and try to instal the application through the desktop software that came with my phone. I go to load application -> add but I can't get it to work. Everytime it says there is a syntex error in line one of the software. I have downloaded the newer version of the software and tried everything I know of. Does/did anybody have the same problems? How do I fix it?

i was told that if you loaded through the desktop manager that you had to have the devices's software from your carrier on your pc as well, if i were you i'd just download the themes that are available for OTA ...so much easier all you do is download via an OTA link (if offered) and then remove your battery for 10 seconds, put it back in and then let the blackberry restart itself (takes a couple minutes) then the themes should show up in your themes section

I have an 8130 and everytime I try to download the themes it tells me that there are no new applications available to send to my phone when using the desktop manager. The problem that I have is the themes that I really like never seem to offer an OTA version. I agree with an earlier post the OTA verisions are VERY easy to use, just not readily available. Any suggestions on getting around the desktop manager error?

In addition to the Desktop Manager, you do indeed need to install the device specific software. This I think may be carrier specific as well. Vodafone NZ has the software available here, but check with your local carrier's site for a link:

It all worked fine for me with this installed.
