I am a Sprint employee using an 8130 and had an issue with my BB deleting all of my text messages and BB messenger messages about once a week. I am curious if anyone else using a SPRINT 8130 is having the same issue and if you took it in to a store what kind of response you are getting from them. I do have a contact with RIM and would like to provide her as much feedback as possible on any issues.
Thanks

The BlackBerry 8130 has an issue with the available memory getting low and it deleting out your text messages and emails.
Currently there is no fix for this issue right now. The best work around for this problem is to moniter your memory by looking at it by going into Option > Status. If it starts getting low, pull the battery and then restart your phone.
I think this is on the table for the next software upgrade to take care of it. But don't quote me on it

Also, the more stuff you have on your berry (apps, themes, media) the lower the memory so try deleting some stuff. I had the same problem with my 8800 when I first got it.

I work for verizon wireless and our 8130 pearls are having the same memory deletion issue, word around the rumor mill is a patch is suppose to fix it, the patch will be released sometime next week...we'll see, I love my 8130 other than that.

I don't work in the industry, but I really don't think this is a bug... The device is clearing memory for critical operation, it's a known operation, it does it on purpose? You'd rather the device just lock up and smoke when the memory tops out? Am I missing something? To me, this is just resource management.

Its an issue with both verizon and Sprint that the available memory starts disappearing and then if you restart it by pulling the battery the memory goes back up to normal. I have just been keeping an eye on mine and I restart if it starts to get low. So the problem isn't that it is clearing memory when the memory gets full but that the memory is reading that it is full when it is not. its weird though but I will see peoples BB read under a million bytes and go back up to 15 million after a battery pull. But no I would rather it deleted my texts rather than lock up and start smoking lol

if you open the messages app andd select the menu button and select options then general options you can set how long your BB will hang on to messages. My minimum in 15 days (where I set it). After that the messages will be deleted. This option can be set to FOREVER. if you have messages you want to keep save them to the saved messages folder.

I had this problem last night on wife's phone. We got them the same time, did the same thing to them and her's was not showing messages, calls, etc... so, refering back to what I have read on here I started looking around some of the settings, matching them with my phone. When I looked under status and the memory, it was at ZERO. So I turned the phone off, pulled the battery and low and behold, it worked. Memory went back up. As a matter of fact, was a lot more than on my phone and hers is filled with all kinds of stuff!

you can go to Options / security / memory cleaning / select your menu button and select CLEAN NOW. this should clean up some memory issues.
you can also change the options so the memory cleaning runs as specified in the options. I have been 3 months without needing a battery pull to clean memory issues. I have alot of stuff on my phone.

Also, check how many apps you have open by pushing alt back arrow. I let my cousin play games on my berry (I have about 22 games) and he left every game open when he finished. I got my phone back and it was barely responding because the memory was all taken up by the open applications.
If you are just pushing the red button to close apps/programs you might not be closing them. Make sure to go to the app menu and select CLOSE or use the alt back arrow to check how many apps are open.
Also, I use the auto on/off to turn my berry off from 12am - 7am. This does two things, it saves part of my battery when I wouldn't be using it and also closes any apps and restarts my berry freeing my memory.
