Installing Applications...Help a noobie!

I just got a Blackberry Curve 8310 a few months ago and didn't know there was so much you could do with one!!! I'm having trouble installing applications though. I read some of the other posts but still can't figure it out. It says "no additional applications designed for your device were found".
Can someone point me in the right direction?
