The newest Handheld OS is listed for each service provider that carries the Blackberry 81xx (as of 11JAN08). Note that while most are multilanguage, some are just Chinese. I have not personally checked, but have been told that the Chinese OS's also have English. Many providers use the same OS as other carriers so there are repeats on the list, but this will be a good reference to check for updates as well.
Each lists the Carrier, Package Version, Application Version, Software Platform and Size. Follow the link and in the "Please Select a Product" dropbox, find "Blackberry Pearl 8100 Smartphone" or "Blackberry 81xx" (in most cases). Older versions each Carrier used may also be listed, but the newest will be at the top.

* For T-Mobile, you need to go through T-Mobile to get the OS as opposed to Blackberry. They require you to enter your telephone number, so I'm guessing you need to be a T-Mobile customer to get the software. Also, there are several other T-Mobile providers worldwide (Austria ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, Czech Republic ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, Germany ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, and UK ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**) which carry the 8100. You do not need a Username and Password to get to the OS downloads from their sites - just click "Free Download Area" on the left.
** Click "Free Download Area" on left, click "Devices" folder, click "RIM Devices" folder, click "8100" folder and find the link on the next page. If going from one T-Mobile site to another, make sure you "Sign Out" first.

* For T-Mobile, you need to go through T-Mobile to get the OS as opposed to Blackberry. They require you to enter your telephone number, so I'm guessing you need to be a T-Mobile customer to get the software. Also, there are several other T-Mobile providers worldwide (Austria ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, Czech Republic ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, Germany ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**, and UK ([Only registered and activated users can see links])**) which carry the 8100. You do not need a Username and Password to get to the OS downloads from their sites - just click "Free Download Area" on the left.
** Click "Free Download Area" on left, click "Devices" folder, click "RIM Devices" folder, click "8100" folder and find the link on the next page. If going from one T-Mobile site to another, make sure you "Sign Out" first.
