Mystery Icons

Hi all...
I have a couple of things on my screen that are a mystery to me, and I was hoping someone could solve the mystery. Both are located at the very top-right corner, next to the "EDGE" part of the bar.
The first sometimes looks like an upside-down u, and sometimes like a hook, depending on what I'm doing. The other is a number that changes fro -85 to -97 or in that range at least.

Any ideas?

usually (but i could be wrong) next to the word edge is the bar that tells you your signal strength. If you hvae a different theme on there it could just have a different type of bar.
Where are those numbers you are talking about located?

I'm using the zen theme that came with the phone, but with a different wallpaper. I don't have a bar for signal strength. The numbers are usually just there when I'm using the browser.

Those numbers are indicating signal strength you might be able to change that by
holding alt then pressing nmll on your curve. That swaps between numbers and bars!
