Cartan BlackBerry Theme by Hedone Design

Three Animated Homescreens are available on 8900, 9000, 9500, 9600, 9650 and 9700 series. Other BlackBerry Smartphone series include only one homescreen and one line of icons.

The world is no longer a safe place. You thought it would be okay to go out. You thought they wouldn’t come for you. You thought…incorrectly… Across the landscape Care Bears and My Little Ponies, frothing at the mouths, come screaming down the hills for you – and only you. The cutesy AND the pootsey are out to get you. They will have you drowning in pastels, awash in the terrors of marabou and velveteen nightmares. Grab it here

By the time this theme was finished, we were all sitting about pinching each other’s cheeks (during our tea party, of course) and congratulating one another on a theme rivaling even the most adorable themes available on a device that just SCREAMS “cuddly” and “sweet” (Blackberry).

Could We See the BlackBerry 9800 in Mid August on AT&T?

Boy would this make me happy. Rumors are circling that the BlackBerry 9800 may launch on the AT&T network around August 15, 2010. It's interesting that Research in Motion has been dropping little hints in the twitter world and their Blog that BlackBerry 6 is ready to see the light of day. We assume that the slider will be the first BlackBerry device to be sporting the new OS and if you have seen the videos you know it's going to be a real treat.

This will be RIM's first touchscreen with a slide out keyboard device, which suits me perfectly fine. For those who love touchscreen devices but may get in a jam with typing out long e-mails, the 9800 slider will be a perfect fit. What about you guys? Is this the device you have been waiting for ? Is it a suitable competitor to the Incredible, iPhone, and Droid X? Or does it even need to be considered a competitor?

Time will tell but chime in.

Stoic BlackBerry Theme = Great theme!

Mistabyggs has done it again. I just got the chance to download his new theme and ladies and gentlemen, I must say that it's my new favorite. The look is very clean and the font on my message screen is perfect. Click here to grab this hot theme.

Stoic, by MBCustomz Themes, is a nice, clean theme with a hidden quick bar to access your favorite applications right from the home screen.

THE HOMESCREEN:
The homescreen features makes the ease of use and functionality of this theme very comfortable as well as appealing to the eye. Some of the features of the homescreen includes:

1. Wallpaper friendly
2. Weather icon slot embedded in the banner.
3. 19 user definable icons (14 for Storm models).
4. Custom today text field embedded in the banner.
5. Custom battery and signal meters.
6. Hide-a-way quick bar.

THE BANNER:
The banner features a custom slot for your favorite application or your favorite weather app. The icon text will remain visible for this slot so it is great for any weather application. The banner also incorporates a custom today text field to display your new messages, missed calls, appointments…etc, along with  static message and calendar icons. This allows you to free up 2 spots on your homescreen for your favorite apps.

THE QUICK BAR:
Tired of always scrolling through the icon screen to access your favorite applications or games? With the custom quick bar, you can have up to 12 additional icons (10 for Storm models) at your ready directly from the homescreen. The best part about this feature is if you want to always display the quick bar, once you scroll to it, it will remain visible until you hit the return button on your keypad.

*On Storm models, to make the focus icon disappear if you choose to display the quick bar, just simply touch the bottom edge of the quick bar.

*To display the quick bar, scroll to the last icon on the bottom dock, then scroll up. Navigation of the quick bar is left to right.

RIM Introduces New Geolocation Feature -Sans GPS!

Today, RIM introduced a new geolocation feature of the Locate Service. The Geolocation service uses cell towers to gather quick location information and deliver it to applications on BlackBerry smartphones. Because it uses cell tower information, no GPS is required – meaning developers can have their applications call on location information in areas where there is no GPS coverage.

The location data provided by the Geolocation service is quick and general, so not as specific as GPS information, but perfect for applications that need to point to close by areas of interest or other geographical points/information without going into too many details. And once a user is back in GPS coverage, the application can call for more detailed information, if needed.

The Geolocation service joins existing capabilities in the Locate Service for the BlackBerry Application Platform, which include:
·         Reverse geocoding capabilities enable applications to convert a user’s latitude and longitude to an address
·         Integration with BlackBerry Maps Service offers a variety of app features, ranging from navigation directions to POI recommendations. BlackBerry Maps Service compliments Locate Service by providing map displays that can be invoked or embedded to indicate a user’s location

The service requires BlackBerry device software v5.0 or higher and a wireless plan with a carrier that supports these capabilities.

Berry Executive Pro by Vision Mobility

I have to be honest, I am pretty excited about this theme!  I haven't been able to blog about a theme from Vision Mobility for a while and I really like their themes.  Jester(the designer) has a really precise style and his themes always work flawlessly like they're supposed to.  This theme is like nothing I have seen before with an animated cylinder that houses 5 static(unchangeable) applications and a 7 icon hidden side dock (all user selectable) the graphics are extremely clean and the icons mesh with it seamlessly.
